Reading is one of the four language skills and it is unarguable that it is a passive skills as opposed to speaking and writing which are active skills.

Most students perceive reading as an Herculean task so they tend to avoid it.

It is irrefutable that every student is willing to graduate with first class but the heartbreaking point is that not every student will painstakingly imbibe the habit of paying the price that will catapult them to success

It is evident that there are misconceptions about academic reading, students only read when examinations are knocking at the door or when they have tests to write.

However, institutions and the society at large seems to have embrace these misconceptions. Parents only encourage their children to read only during examinations, even our so called institutions tend to run a 24 hour library service during examination periods. This act is tantamount to encouraging the student to read only when they have examinations.

Students therefore begin to deprive themselves of sleep and rest because they have to cover a wide range of courses, this would have been inconsequential if they had been reading bit by bit; the type of reading is what I term "fire brigade reading".

Conclusively, student should enable to incorporate the habit of reading everyday, it will not only help them pass in flying colours but will also help them to be academically sound and vibrate.
If the act of reading everyday is imbibed by students, it will not only help them to achieve success but will also help in their personal development.
