STRIP OFF THE ADULT SKIN...

As grown ups, sometimes we find it difficult realising the fun and childish side of us because we tend to be occupied doing so much and paying less attention to self. At 22, you are juggling school, jobs, dreams and you wonder what's there to play or laugh about right? But the truth is each and everyone needs something to play about, releasing yourself is needed at every phase of your life. It took me a while to realise, but now I know and sharing with you what I am learning in my twenties. Wouldn't be bad right?

On the 25th of February 2020, I took my siblings to a bowling party, a friend's birthday party actually at the Dome Bowling Arena, Abuja and it was the most pleasant sight to see for me, to see young, free spirited children and older ones having fun side by side, throwing giant balls on the ball track, the expression of excitment at each attempt to win and just relaxing was amusing. Then I realized that having fun could cure a lot of things especially for adults. For a while you forget your problems. Life as a Nigerian is something to ponder about, letting go for a while could provide stability for one's mental health.

There is a joy in coming together, bonding reviving old spirit, freedom in laughing, smiling and reaching out to others. Taking the situation of the country or world today, we have a lot of complaints and gratitudes. Amazingly, we let gratitude in and drown complaint with gratitude. The universe unconsciously waits to see you take the first step and when you do they become conscious of your sucess.

Advantageous Steps That Will Assist In Hastening That Side Of You;

1. Intentionality: Don't cancel that date plan with a friend, try to go out often and not because you are not choked up with activities or deadlines, but because you prioritize what is of importance to you and your mental health which should be placed as prior. Accept that date and go have fun for once.

2. Commitment: Be commited to treating yourself rightly, commend yourself, sometimes that fun time is just what is needed.

3. Prioritize: Undertsand that your mental health is priority, as a young lady who is married with children, you tend to do much and have little time for yourself, drop the kids off at a friends or grandma's, it's time you take that bold step by caring and being conscious of you.

In a nutshell, as grown ups, our mind is clouded by a lot of activities, bills struggles, problems, but despite all of that, there is need to embrace that child- like side of us craving to be happy, embrace that child with fun and be happy, there is need to release the inner child, because he or she is in there dying to express himself even Christ said we should be like children. One significant word "Nightbirde" left me with and I will continue to carry in my heart is that, what ever it is we are facing it's okay and don't wait until life isn't hard anymore before we become happy. The struggles are endless, we only need to keep pushing, whatever makes you happy do it as long as it doesn't jeopardize others.

  1. I find this article so encouraging. For a long time, I keep making excuses to go out and make fun and the end result has always been "stress" over and over again. Thank you Hannah for this article.
